If you or someone you know is involved in a violent situation, you can get help.

Talk

  • To a friend, family member, teacher, counselor or doctor. You may have to talk with more than one person before you get the help you need. Be persistent!

Call

  • Your local YWCA or women's shelter
  • The Kids Help Phone 1-800-668-6868
  • Parents Help Line 1-888-603-9100
  • Emergency or distress services found in the front of your local phone book
  • Femaide francophone support line for women who are victims of violence: phone 1-877-336-2433 TTY 1-866-860-7043
  • The police or RCMP

If you or a woman you know is involved in an intimate violent situation, help is available.

Talk

  • Tell her it's not her fault
  • Ask her: "I'm concerned about how you got these injuries. Did someone do this to you?"
  • Provide her with information about available resources (see below)

Contact

  • Look for emergency or distress services in the front of your local phone book
  • Call the police or RCMP
